Justar Misdemeanor

 Justar Misdemeanor, a U.K. born artist completed an Interactive Arts Degree at Manchester School of Art. Combining creativity and personal experiences Justars artworks are like pages of her diary. Allowing the viewer to share in some of the darker moments of her life.

 Creativity has helped justar overcome many difficult times she has endured over the years.  Her love of the creative world enables Justar to pursue art in many forms; including spoken word poetry, writing and acting. Allowing Justar to creatively express her feelings, thoughts and concerns, whilst raising awareness on controversial and traumatic, social, and political issues.

 Some of her most dominant works feature large scale pastel drawings focusing on the harrowing reality of war. Life size pastel pieces portraying soldiers in vulnerable positions making the viewer question the emotional and mental impacts war has on humanity.
Her pastel drawing, titled, ‘Soldier’ was shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing Prize 2013 and can now be seen in the Ingram Collections.

Sharing her world; art and personal experiences Justar has become a mental health advocate hosting and participating in numerous online events aimed at younger audiences; to showcase and inspire creativity to better mental health and well-being. Believing that we all have immense creativity capabilities that can be used to better our own individual mental health.
